Sean Murphy is the traffic anchor for WakeUp News, The CW Philly's fast-paced, headline traffic, weather, and news service that airs weekdays 5 to 9 a.m. The news program, a co-production with Traffic.com debuted in May, 2005. Murphy also serves as an occasional feature reporter for sister-station CBS-3. Before joining the stations in February 2005, Murphy worked as a reporter and producer for Comcast SportsNet since 2001. While there, he served as a reporter for SportsNite, co-produced and hosted PECO Spotlight, as well as produced and wrote the Comcast SportsNet Classics program. Previously, he also worked as an in-arena host for the Philadelphia Phillies, Flyers, and Phantoms. This is Murphy's second tour of duty on WPSG-TV. From 1999 to 2001, he worked as a promotion producer at the station. He previously served as a reporter for Studio 57, the station's public affairs program, and co-hosted the SPCA Telethon and the Children's Miracle Network Telethon at the station. Graduating from the Wilma Theater acting workshop in 1995, Murphy has performed in several local theater productions. In 2004, He won a local Emmy award for his ' Wing Bowl Madness' report for SportsNet. He received three additional nominations for his work there. A native of Delaware County, Murphy graduated from Temple University in 1991 where he earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Radio/Television/Film.
